 History of Deepavali or Diwali in English 
Deepavali or Diwali is known as the festival of lights. it is the largest and biggest festival of India. basically all over the India people celebrating Diwali or Deepavali without the history of Deepavali or Diwali. And why we celebrate Diwali or Deepavali ?. Answer of this question came from the history of Deepavali or Divali.


Deepavali or Diwali is an important festival for Hindu just like as Christmas for Christians.

How people celebrate it?

People use clay lamp and lights outside of homes and inside to show their spiritual brightness and protects from the darkness of spirituality. Kids play with firecrackers like bombs, crackers, etc. The whole family prays to God for happiness on Diwali day.

Now to the point -

History of Deepavali or Diwali -

"Deepavali or Diwali is a festival of victory of good (truth) over evil(lie)"

As this phrase suggest this the reason of celebration victory.

Now this victory different for different religions.

Hindus Diwali or Deepavali story based on regions -
  • North India - in north India people celebrate the victory of god Rama over evil Ravan and came back to home Ayodhya after 14 years.
  • South India - in south India people celebrate the victory of god Krishna over evil Narakasura.
  • West India -  in west India people celebrate it because on this day the Lord Vishnu sent the king Bali to rule the lower world.
Jains Deepavali or Diwali - This day is special for Jainism because on this day their lord Mahaveer awake (nirvana) on October 15, 527 B.C
Sikhism Deepavali or Diwali story - .on the same day their lord Guru Hargobind Ji, the sixth Guru was freed from imprisonment.

The mythology of Hindus :



"Lord Rama and  Sita Story"     

The lord Rama was the son of a king of Ayodhya. King exiled Rama to the forest for 14 years cause of Rama's mother. Rama went to the forest and start living there one day the evil mind pundit Ravana came to his hut and taken away her wife Sita. So, Lord Rama killed Ravana and came back home after 14 years. Ayodhya's people were very happy because their son of the king came back and they welcome him by lighting clay lamp and crackers. This day of welcome back to the home of Lord of Rama is known as Diwali or Deepavali. This story shows the victory of truth over evil.

 "King Bali or Vamana Avatar Story "

In the 8th incarnation, Narkasura was forcing beautiful young women and forcing them to live with him. People were sad because of Narkasura. After some time the Lord Vishnu saw that and realize to help people. So, he is born on earth to kill Narkasura. Krishna killed the Narkasura to reviled the people.
